Our office is open for extensive hours: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays, plus hours on Saturday and Sunday. For most holidays (except Christmas Day) we are open, either for a full 12 hours on the high-demand winter holidays such as MLK Day and Washington's Birthday or for a shortened schedule (such as on Memorial Day or Labor Day). These evening, weekend, and holiday hours help us to serve your child better and to keep you from having to go to the ED or urgent care with an acute illness or an injury.
But having such extensive hours does come with extra costs for us and at times can be a staffing nightmare! As you can imagine, our staff would like to be home with their kids on a holiday weekend, just like you are. Because of this, we are allowed by insurance regulations to add a small additional charge to the regular charges for the visit.
Visits in the evenings and on Saturdays are always in high demand. If you don't need one of these times, please request an earlier appointment during the week so that those who really need the evening and Saturday appointments can have them.
We follow the Federal Holiday Calendar. For 2015, the holiday dates are:
Thursday, January 1, New Year's Day (short holiday schedule)
Monday, January 19, Martin Luther King's Birthday (open for full 12 hours)
Monday, February 16, George Washington's Birthday (open for full 12 hours)
Monday, May 25, Memorial Day (short holiday schedule)
Friday, July 3 (weekday observation of Independence Day: probably a short day)
Monday, September 7, Labor Day (short holiday schedule)
Monday, October 12, Columbus Day (open for full 12 hours)
Wednesday, November 11, Veteran's Day (open for full 12 hours)
Thursday, November 26, Thanksgiving Day (schedule TBA)
Friday, December 25, Christmas Day (closed)
In addition, we traditionally close early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. There are no holiday charges associated with appointments on these days but availability is usually limited to same-day and urgent appointments.
