Meningococcal Vaccine

If you follow Oregon news, you may have heard that there has been a recent small outbreak of meningococcal disease in Central Oregon (the Prineville area). Because of this, we want to remind families that children should receive the meningococcal vaccine. We usually offer this starting at the 11 year old well child visit; a booster is recommended at age 16. This is especially important for high school students preparing to leave home for college or the military as this rare but serious disease may spread easily in dormitories and barracks.
