Nutrition is a complex and varied subject. Eating has a very strong role in all cultures and is an important part of every day. There are significant health consequences to overnutrition (obesity) and undernutrition. Many of the questions we are asked regarding their infants center around food and nutrition. In recent decades food has become abundant enough that obesity rates are reaching epidemic proportions and there is a strong possiblity that life expectancies will start to decrease in future generations due to the many health consequences of obesity. Many fads have come and go but the simple approach of decreasing calories in by choosing lowfat foods and increasing activity level continues to be the most effective interventions. Turn off TV (less than 2 hours per day) and take a walk!
