Dr. James K. Lace graduated from Lawrence University with a B. A. in 1970. He received his MD in 1974 from the University of Cincinnati Medical School. He did a 2 year pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and 1 year at OHSU Department of Pediatrics.
He started Childhood Health in 1977. He teaches clinical pediatrics at OHSU and is board certified in Pediatrics. |

Dr. J. Mike Gilbert received his B.S. in 1965 from Lewis and Clark College. He received his MD at the University of Oregon Medical School in Portland in 1969. In 1970 he did a rotating internship at McGill University, Montreal ,Canada. From 1971-1973 he was a G.M.O. with the Indian Health Service in Nebraska. Dr. Gilbert did his pediatric residency from 1973-75 at the University of Oregon Medical School. He was in private practice in LaGrande, Oregon
from 1975-1982. In 1982 he moved to Salem and joined Childhood Health. He teaches clinical pediatrics at OHSU and is board certified in Pediatrics. |

Dr. Kimberly A. Heggen graduated from Willamette University with a B.S. in 1988. She received her MD from OHSU in 1992. She completed her pediatric residency at OHSU in 1995. She joined Childhood Health in 1995. She is board certified in Pediatrics.Â

Dr. Suzanne Dinsmore graduated from Willamette University with a BA in 1975. She received her MD from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1979. Dr. Dinsmore completed her residency training at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 1982. Before
coming to Childhood Health, Dr. Dinsmore worked for the Cook County Health Department in Chicago, and for Kaiser Permanente in Portland. She joined Childhood Health in 1985. She is board certified in Pediatrics.Â

Dr. Antoinette Farah graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 1989 with a BA. She received her MD degree from OHSU in 1994. She completed her pediatric residency at OHSU in 1997. She joined Childhood Health in 1997. She teaches clinical pediatrics at OHSU and is board certified in Pediatrics. |

Dr. Dorin Sanders Kemmerle moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2000 having grown up in Stanford, California and Boulder, Colorado. She graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts with a BA in Neuroscience and American Studies, and received her MD from New York Medical
College in 1997. She moved west again for her pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Maricopa medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. She is board certified in Pediatrics. Dr. Kemmerle loves living in Oregon and enjoys hiking, biking, camping and gardening. Her interests include music, photography, travel, cooking and pets (especially her rabbit George). Dr. Kemmerle is particularly interested in preventive medicine and injury prevention.Â

Dr. Kenneth M. Carlson graduated from University of California, San Diego with BA in 1991. He received his MD degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1996 and completed his pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 1999. After working in general pediatric practice in Albuquerque, NM for two years he moved to the Northwest in Summer of 2001, joining Childhood Health Associates. He is board certified in Pediatrics. Drawn to the many outdoor recreation activities in Oregon he enjoys hiking, biking, and camping with his family. He is particularly interested in the use technology in medicine and in his spare time edits our office web page.Â

Dr. Fara Etzel earned her B.S. at OSU. She then moved to Houston Texas where she completed her Master of Science degree in Genetics Counseling at University of Texas-Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. She stayed in Houston to graduate from University of Texas-Houston Medical School, but was delighted to move back to Oregon for her Pediatric Residency at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at OHSU. She is board certified in Pediatrics. Dr. Etzel is happy to be back home working in Salem and looking forward to spending her spare time with her family and friends pursuing her interests of golfing, gardening, fishing, sailing, cooking and chasing her kittens.Â

Dr. Jenny Hoelter grew up in Eastern Oregon and earned a B.S. in Microbiology from Oregon State University in 1998. She earned an MD from Oregon Health and Science University in 2004. She then moved to Vermont with her husband and son and completed the Pediatric Residency program at Vermont Children’s Hospital. Now she has returned to Oregon, bringing a new daughter, and is excited to join the CHAOS crew. She loves to bike and hike with her family, and is looking forward to exploring the Willamette Valley
again!

Dr. Brian Temple graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.S. in Biology in 1997. He received his MD from University College Dublin in Ireland. He returned home to the U.S. for his pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Temple has recently moved to Oregon with his wife and daughter and is looking forward to exploring the beauty of the pacific northwest.

Katrina Davis, RN, MSN, PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) graduated with a B.S.N. from San Jose State University in 1971. Between 1971 and 1988 she worked at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Salem Hospital Pediatric Department, and at the Marion County Health Department. She received her MSN and PNP in 1988 at OHSU. She has continued to work at Salem Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse Specialist since then. She joined Childhood Health in 1989. She is board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.Â

Marge Dettwiler, RN, MSN, PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) graduated from Walla Walla College with a BSN in 1970. She worked as a critical care nurse from 1970 to 1991. She received her MSN from OHSU in 1993 and her PNP in 1994. She worked at the Marion County Health Department from 1994 to 1997. She joined Childhood Health in 1997. She is board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.Â

Angie Lyons-Johnson, PA-C (Physician Assistant) earned her B.A. at the University of Oregon in 1992 and completed her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at OHSU in 2004. Prior to PA school Angie worked as a volunteer lactation educator for Clackamas county and as a clinical research assistant at OHSU’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. She enjoys all aspects of pediatrics from supporting young families with infants, to meeting the unique needs of adolescents. Angie is a long-time Oregonians and has two sons. In her free time she enjoys reading, running, snow-boarding, travel, and spending time with family and friends. Angie is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She joined Childhood Health Associates in 2004.Â

Krisi Kamstra, PA (Physician Assistant) earned a BS and BA from Texas Christian University in 2001, then worked toward a Master of Public Health at OSU before earning her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at OHSU in 2007. Before joining the CHAOS team in Fall of 2007, she worked as an Emergency Department Technician at Legacy Emanuel Emergency and Children’s Emergency Departments, and as an EMT on the ambulance for Santiam Memorial Hospital. Krisi has lived in the Salem area nearly all of her life and is proud to serve children and families in our local community. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, dancing, quilting, gardening, remodeling, travel, and the outdoors.Â
