Flu Shot Saturdays starting October 18th
September 21, 2008 by Kenneth Carlson, MD
As in previous years we will be open for walk-in flu shots on Saturday mornings from 9 AM until 12 noon. We will continue these for many weeks, likely well into January. We are anticipating abundant supplies this year so don’t feel you have to rush to the first clinic. This is for our own established patients. To keep wait time short we can only offer influenza vaccine during these clinics. If your child is due for other vaccines we recommend a well child checkup or scheduled shot visit with a nurse.
Recommendations have been expanded this year. Influenza (flu) vaccine is now recommended for all kids 6 months to 18 years old. While all kids will benefit the following kids will benefit the most:
- Patients 6 months to 2 years old
- Patients with chronic illness such as diabetes, asthma, cardiac disease
- Patients in contact with a high risk person
If your child has an upcoming appointment in the next 3 months we will be happy to offer vaccine at that time saving you from an extra trip on a Saturday. If no upcoming appointment scheduled we will see you on a Saturday morning.
