Does your child need a sport physical?

August 2, 2008 by Kenneth Carlson, MD

To participate in school sports in our area a child must have a current sport physical form on file at school with clearance from medical provider. We will sign the form if a physical has been done within 2 years of the beginning of the sport and there are no medical contraindications.

August is typically a very busy month for sport physicals so call our office now to schedule with your child’s provider. If previous immunizations have not been given by our office be sure to bring a shot record and any other relevant medical records that will assist us in taking care of your child.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Well child checkups, reinvented

January 27, 2008 by Kenneth Carlson, MD

Dr. LaceOur office is currently reexamining how we do checkups. Specifically we are looking at different developmental and other screening tools to better detect developmental problems early. In addition we will be looking at anticipatory guidance topics that we emphasize, including nutrition, injury and disease prevention.

Please use the comment section to tell us what you expect from a check-up. Let us know what works, what doesn’t, and what you would like to hear more about from your provider at a checkup.

Welcome Dr. Brian Temple

December 29, 2007 by Kenneth Carlson, MD

temple portraitThe Childhood Health family continues to grow. With the new year we are proud to announce Dr. Brian Temple coming to join our clinic. He recently graduated from top residency program at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. We are sure you will enjoy his quick smile as much as we do. He also speaks Spanish! Check out the All about us page for his full bio.

With the addition of new providers in recent months we have now “grown into” our new building. We hope this will continue to increase our accessibility to our patients and continue our goals of quality, available health care for our patients.

We want to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2008.
