HPV Vaccine (Gardasil©) is Here

We are proud to announce the availability of the new vaccine for the prevention of HPV infections which reduces cervical cancer. It is a series of three doses. The second shot is give at least two months after the first and the third dose at least six months after the first. It is recommended for all girls beginning at age 11. Please call our office if you have any questions about this vaccine or want to schedule a shot visit. More information about this vaccine is available from the CDC National Immunization Program.     Is Gardisil available yet in the UK?
    Do patients with CKD5 ( End stage renal failure ) require larger doses of vaccine akin to that seen in this cohort of patients when being vaccinated against Hepatitis B? Are there data available on antibody reponses

    I am not aware of data in its use in immuncompromised patients. With all vaccines it is best to discuss with your doctor if such a vaccine is best for you. In general if a vaccine is not contraindicated for a person with a particular condition it is given at the recommend dosages and schedule. If there is question of its immunigenicity than testing can be done after the series is completed to assess effectiveness.
